Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Perhaps it’s nostalgia but my Great Grandma Julia's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are and have always been my favorite. I love how they are chewy and soft with just the right amount of chocolate chips. And don't forget that secret ingredient that adds a slight crunch. I enjoy them best fresh from the oven and served with a glass of cold milk.

When I was a little girl, it was always a treat to have sleep-overs at my Great Gran's house. She taught me how to crochet and she always had those colourful mini-marshmallows in her pantry of which she would give me a tiny bowl while we watched an evening show. Gran would always send me home with a freshly baked batch of her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and I would savour every cookie - every bite, every crumb, until I could return again for another visit in hopes of getting more cookies.

Today, as I pull oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from the oven and pour two glasses of cold milk, I have a tiny toddler pulling at my leg and he says, "cookies annnnnd milk" because he knows how Gran's cookies are best enjoyed. As we sit together enjoying every bite, every crumb, I think back fondly of the memories I have with my Great Gran and wish she was here to join us for just one more cookie.

What is your favorite type of cookie and how do you best enjoy them? I would love to know.

Love with Cookies + Milk,

Jenna
